Have you read the Quran? I can promise you, the Taliban is following EXACTLY what is written in their religious texts. Islam gives a decidedly second class status to women. The Quran specifically states that women are deficient in intelligence and that their testimony is worth only HALF that of a man. It is their religion that allows for the degradation of women.
