I really like this answer and agree with a lot of what you have said, even though you came off as a strong Russophobe throughout your analysis. I have to strongly disagree with your final point about patriotism. A individual can be proud of their country and it shouldn’t be viewed as senseless or moronic. I am proud of my countries fascinating history, diverse artwork, literature, music and unique architecture. Therefore I am proud to be Russian. That mentality should not be viewed as wrong. We have the right to be proud of our background because every culture is distinct and has something special to offer. There is no such thing as an ideal society and Russian society certainly has a lot it needs to improve on. As somebody who enjoys studying history, I know that all countries evolve and Russia will be strikingly different than what it is today.
